Mr. Engling is a comprehensive practitioner in industrial health and safety. He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), and holds a B.S. in Public Health from the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis and an M.S. in Occupational Safety Management from Indiana State University. Mr. Engling is also a certified 14001 and ISO 45001 Lead Auditor for Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Systems. He has conducted Health and Safety Audits at heavy industrial facilities throughout the United States and in multiple foreign countries, and regularly considers variations in local regulatory basis for audits. He is experienced in conducting Health and Safety audits for nuclear power generation, alternative energy generation, conventional power generation, foundries, manufacturing, food distribution, and many other industries.
As Senior Technical Advisor of Safety and Industrial Health Services for KERAMIDA, Mr. Engling advises clients on the strategic direction of their health and safety programs across a wide range of applications, with a focus on worker protection. He counsels senior leadership and health and safety managers on program structure, priorities, and the H&S management systems needed to meet their goals. He provides executive-level guidance on training strategy and reviews program effectiveness, advising on where curricula should be developed or revised. Mr. Engling has shaped far-reaching programs and policies for several large corporations. Notable clients have included Simon Property Group, the largest shopping mall operator in the U.S., for which he drafted the Re-Opening policy for all its malls nationwide, and Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest oil company, for which he developed international heat-stress and ergonomic programs.
Mr. Engling has conducted numerous air quality and industrial hygiene investigations across a wide range of industrial, commercial, educational, and residential settings, from foundries to pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities to federal government offices. These investigations have focused on determining the level of exposure to physical, chemical, and radiological hazards and on identifying control measures to reduce that exposure. Additionally, Mr. Engling has extensive academic and field experience with data analysis, air sample collection, data logging, and interpretation within laboratories. He has performed sample collection and utilized direct-reading particulate instrumentation, followed by data interpretation at hundreds of foundries and manufacturing facilities on projects related to respirable silica exposure and heat.
Mr. Engling has excellent communication skills and has received numerous client commendations for his training and speaking. Additionally, Mr. Engling provides H&S auditing, expert witness/litigation support, incident response consulting, and investigation services. His superb knowledge of H&S regulations and best practices, as well as his keen observational skills, allow him to efficiently conduct these services on behalf of KERAMIDA clients.
