Employee Spotlight: Becky Twohey, Ph.D.

Becky Twohey, Ph.D.
Vice President, ESG Strategy, Planning and Reporting

What is your current role and how long have you been with KERAMIDA?

I joined KERAMIDA in March 2021 as Senior Sustainability Analyst in the company’s Los Angeles, California office, and was recently promoted to Vice President of ESG Strategy, Planning and Reporting.

What do you love about this line of work?

Sustainability is evolving to address today’s biggest challenges, and I love being a part of positive change. I get to work with lots of different types of businesses and people, and I am always learning and being inspired by our team and our clients.

What continues to drive your passion for sustainability?

My passion for sustainability stems from nature’s intrinsic value, and first-hand experience of how supporting people and communities can support nature. I also think that sustainability by definition and as a field is forward-thinking, which is exciting.

What do you think it will take for the world to address the climate crisis?

Immediate action. By taking action now, we have more options later. Addressing the climate crisis will take aggressive action on all fronts – investor or customer-driven demand, regulation, and policy. They have to support each other, and I think we are moving in that direction.

What do you believe is the most meaningful/impactful aspect of your role?

Change can be uncomfortable, so I really hope I am a positive influence on the process, where engaging and working on sustainability issues can be exciting and fun.

What are some of your hobbies outside of work?

I love doing almost anything outdoors – surfing, hiking, backpacking, beach volleyball, picnicking adventures. I also enjoy baking and painting.
