California IGP Stormwater Compliance Services for Fence Manufacturing Facility

Overview:

KERAMIDA’s Northern California stormwater professionals assisted a fence manufacturing facility with returning to Baseline status under California's Industrial General Permit (IGP). The California based facility weaves aluminum wire to make fence for sale and rentals. The outside storage of these products presented a pollutant source for Zinc (Zn), Aluminum (Al), and Iron (Fe).

Project Details:

Beginning in October 2014, KERAMIDA’s professionals worked to improve the manufacturing facility’s stormwater compliance efforts through regularly implementing Best Management Practices (BMPs), treating stormwater discharge, and storing both raw and finished materials off the ground. These combined efforts have greatly improved the facility’s sampling results. The facility is now in Baseline for six (6) out of its nine (9) parameters, and is expected to return to Baseline for two more parameters once its Level 2 Technical Report is submitted in June of 2019. This facility is an excellent example of how effective BMPs, along with a comprehensive stormwater compliance program and team, can drastically improve sampling results.

The initial investment of money, time, and labor in the stormwater management program was certainly worthwhile for the facility, as its stormwater compliance costs will decrease by thousands once it completes its return to Baseline for all parameters.
