A major U.S. utility company needed to renew aging potable water infrastructure across multiple pipeline segments, requiring coordination around live utilities, congested underground corridors, and phased tie-ins to maintain uninterrupted service throughout construction.

Design Development
KERAMIDA developed design packages using a combination of existing utility mapping, record information from various utility owners, and targeted field investigations. Our team determined horizontal alignment, identified required fittings and appurtenances, evaluated existing utility conflicts, and coordinated tie-in locations to support constructability and phased installation.
The scope also included a basic survey investigation to confirm public right-of-way limits, identification of customers within the construction limits, and environmental coordination to confirm what, if any, environmental permitting was required. Design packages incorporated valves, hydrants, and other system appurtenances in accordance with client standards and applicable federal and local guidelines.
Construction Coordination
KERAMIDA performed engineering review of construction phasing and sequencing, with particular attention to maintaining system continuity during tie-ins and coordinating around congested underground utilities. Several segments required enhanced coordination and detailing due to the density and age of existing infrastructure. Deliverables included plan drawings, general notes and design criteria, and basic construction sequencing exhibits to support implementation by the Client and construction teams.
