Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) Study For Lab-Grown Diamond (LGD) Producer

Project Details:

KERAMIDA conducted a Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) study for a lab-grown diamond (LGD) producer supplying Pandora, in alignment with ISO 14067:2018 and using the latest IPCC AR6 global warming potential values. The study was completed to meet Pandora’s sustainability requirements and quantified the cradle-to-gate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions per carat of LGD.

The assessment covered all key life cycle stages, including:

  • Raw material inputs

  • Diamond growth, cutting and polishing

  • Irradiation (for pink diamonds)

  • Packaging

  • Transportation

To ensure comparability, results were normalized to one carat of cut and polished LGD.

KERAMIDA worked closely with the LGD producer and its supply chain partners to collect and review primary operational data, supplementing this with high-quality secondary sources, including EcoInvent, DEFRA, GLEC, IEA, and NREL. Where direct data was not available, conservative, ISO-consistent assumptions were applied. The final study successfully underwent independent third-party verification, ensuring credibility and reliability for external reporting.
