On-Site Health & Safety Compliance Support for Major Pharmaceutical Manufacturer

Project Details:

KERAMIDA provided comprehensive on-site health and safety compliance support for a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility undergoing a significant renovation and build-out to accommodate new production processes and infrastructure. The multi-phase project included active construction within an operational GMP environment, presenting unique challenges in maintaining both worker safety and product integrity.

Our team served as a dedicated safety resource, delivering real-time regulatory guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with both OSHA construction (29 CFR 1926) and general industry (29 CFR 1910) safety standards.

Key responsibilities included:

  • Conducting daily site walkthroughs to identify and mitigate safety risks related to hot work, confined spaces, elevated work, and other contractor activities.

  • Coordinating safety protocols between internal operations teams and external contractors to prevent cross-contamination and ensure safe execution of renovation activities.

  • Reviewing and providing feedback on job hazard analyses (JHAs), safety plans, and permit-required work.

  • Supporting implementation of lockout/tagout (LOTO), respiratory protection, hazard communication, and chemical safety procedures relevant to both construction and ongoing plant operations.

  • Acting as a liaison with client EHS personnel and contractor safety representatives to promote consistent safety expectations and communication across trades.

Project Goals Achieved:

By integrating regulatory expertise with practical field presence, KERAMIDA helped the client proactively manage safety risks during a complex transitional period, maintaining compliance, minimizing disruptions, and supporting a culture of safety throughout the facility upgrade.
