Environmental Permitting & Civil Engineering for Pennsylvania Natural Gas Pipeline Replacement
Overview:
A major utility company needed environmental permitting and civil engineering services to support the replacement of approximately 19,000 linear feet of natural gas distribution pipeline across a 35-acre project corridor in northern Pennsylvania. The project required detailed surveying, wetland and stream delineations, stormwater management design, and multiple environmental permits to address construction impacts and waterway crossings along the linear corridor.
Project Details:
Surveying & Wetland and Stream Delineation
KERAMIDA compiled detailed survey data to support engineering design and permitting and conducted comprehensive wetland and stream delineations throughout the project corridor. Environmental resources included multiple wetlands and watercourses located within wooded areas, existing roadways, paved surfaces, and maintained grassy areas.
Environmental Permitting & Stormwater Management
Based on the delineation results and proposed construction impacts, KERAMIDA prepared and successfully obtained an Individual NPDES Permit, including the design of stormwater control measures (SCMs) and best management practices (BMPs) to address post-construction stormwater management requirements.
KERAMIDA also applied for and obtained multiple state General Permits authorizing pipeline installation activities, temporary access roads, and waterway crossings.
This ongoing project demonstrates KERAMIDA’s ability to integrate surveying, environmental field investigations, permitting, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control design to support natural gas utility infrastructure projects while maintaining compliance with applicable environmental regulations.
