Doug Fasick, CEM
Senior Advisor, Energy Audits & Reduction
Doug Fasick served as an energy expert and Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) for the City of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and has more than 40 years of experience in energy audits and reduction across the public utility and private sectors. As CSO, he led the development and implementation of the city's Climate Action & Adaptation Plan and its sustainability and resiliency initiatives. Before that, as manager of energy engineering and sustainability services for Fort Wayne City Utilities, Mr. Fasick conducted energy audits across the utility's facilities, scoped and specified conservation projects, and worked with operations staff to reduce consumption. He was responsible for implementing the U.S. Department of Energy's 50001 Ready program for City Utilities, establishing an energy management system aligned with the ISO 50001 standard. He paired engineering and financial analysis to build the business case for reduction projects and managed energy project spending from approval through completion.
Mr. Fasick helped lead a microgrid project combining a 5 MW solar array, 1 MW of energy storage, and 3 MW of biogas and natural gas generation, and oversaw an 800 kW Combined Heat and Power plant fueled by biogas from the wastewater treatment plant's anaerobic digesters. He also planned a Resource Recovery facility to take in high-strength organic waste for increased methane production as part of the utility's Net Zero Energy Initiative. He has testified before Indiana Senate and House energy subcommittees on state energy policy.
