Dr. Twohey is Vice President of ESG Strategy, Planning and Reporting and has over thirteen years of hands-on applied experience advancing socially equitable, economically profitable, and environmentally sustainable solutions. She is specially qualified in sustainability program development that is supported by monitoring, evaluation, and reporting. She has expertise in various reporting frameworks, climate change adaptation strategies, impact and vulnerability assessments, innovating programs, and overseeing multiple groups in complex issue areas. She is trained as a human behavioral ecologist and environmental scientist.

Representative Projects

Dr. Twohey has led the reporting efforts of start-ups and multi-national corporations to ensure progress and long-term management of material topics. She has worked cross-functionally to develop, implement, and manage sustainability objectives and programs.

Dr. Twohey has led numerous organizations through their inaugural CDP disclosure and worked with clients to improve their scores. She has worked with numerous organizations to both disclose and integrate climate-related risk at the leadership and management level (The Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosure, TCFD).

Dr. Twohey worked for three years supporting wastewater improvement projects in California while working for Heal the Ocean, and in Hawaii and Honduras while leading the Coral Reef Alliance’s Science Program. She has led community efforts to implement a science-based monitoring plan to measure the ecological and socio-economic benefits of improved wastewater management and documented wastewater treatment case studies in California, Hawaii and Honduras.

Dr. Twohey has 10 years of experience working with local and international communities on the effects of climate change, including leading novel research, managing community-based conservation initiatives, and facilitating stakeholder working groups. She has developed related tools and resources, including a Vulnerability Assessment specific for coastal coral reef communities, a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) program for rights-based fisheries and marine reserves, and a Risk Assessment for marine conservation strategic planning. She has worked extensively with local and state leaders to ground truth tools and research and implement conservation strategies.

Human Capital Expertise 

Dr. Twohey’s experience with strategic advising has included working with executives and boards of diverse stakeholder groups to align values and missions, and to strategically plan for/integrate many of the human capital management metrics. For example, she has:

  • worked with/facilitated diverse groups of stakeholders to design a network of marine protected areas throughout Southern California (as mandated by the California Marine Life Protection Act); 

  • worked with fishing cooperatives where collective bargaining has led to safety and pay improvement;  

  • worked with large NGOs to integrate equity and inclusion into strategic plans and management practice; 

  • worked with fishing communities and suppliers to secure employment opportunities; and,  

  • worked with collaborations of NGOs to design and implement monitoring and evaluations programs.
