Changes in TRI Reporting Rules Limit the Use of Form A's

There have been recent changes in the TRI (Form R) reporting rules that may change how you report this year.

Form R reports are due July 1 of every year. On March 11, 2009 the EPA limited the ability of facilities to report using the alternate Form A, which is a shorter and streamlined version of the Form R. For several years the eligibility for using the Form A had been broadened.

If you have used the Form A in the past you may no longer be able to report using the Form A. The following is a summary of previous eligibility and eligibility for 2009 reports.

Form A Eligibility for each non-PBT chemical	2006 - 2008	2009
Manufactured, Processed, or Otherwise Used	< 1 million lbs	< 1 million lbs
Total Releases ( Form R section 8.1)	< 2000 lbs	N/A
Total of all Waste Management (Form R sections 8.1 - 8.8)	< 5,000 lbs	500 lbs

The changes for 2009 summarized above revert back to the eligibility requirements that were in place prior to 2006.
